Today was a big lesson for the horse player. In big races, like the four Derby Preps held on Saturday, all eyes and most of the money wagered goes, on the Big Favs. So, what happens? A Big Fav wins like Pioneer of the Nile did at Santa Anita today and pays $2.80. On the other hand, in the Rebel at Oaklawn Park unbeaten and huge fav Old Fashioned runs second to a horse named Win Willy and what happens? Win Willy pays $115.60!
Better still, in the Tampa Bay Derby, two strong Ky. Derby contenders both run out of the money and the Trifecta pays over $10,000 and the superfecta pays over $34,000!
It's pretty easy to see the lesson here. For the successful horse player it's a lot more than just selecting the horses who "should win" and those who "could" win. It's also about looking for those situations which could manifest a LARGE payout. So you say, "yes, but how often does it happen"? I say this.......... those who play the Big Favs in Big Races cash a lot of tickets, but are NET MONEY LOSERS over the long haul. Those who play against the Big Fav's in Big Races don't cash often, but are huge NET MONEY WINNERS over the long haul.
This time of year we have LOTS of opportunity, as we have each of the remaining Derby Preps and all three of the Triple Crown races yet to come! The boys at At The Track will help you identify the up setters.....like we did in last year's Belmont Stakes. You recall everyone touted Big Brown to win it in a walk and we said NO Way! Gave 4 reasons why he would not win or even place.
We looked pretty good that day, as we also had the Long shot winner, the winning trifecta, and for those who played $125 using our selections, collected $17,000 in the P4.
Again, the Lesson here is look for the BIG OPPORTUNITIES!
On to Sunday at Santa Anita:
I again like the card (Famous Last words) and here's the amount you will need to bet for our planned plays on Sunday:
5 Trifecta plays and one P3 play..................$ 237
The BalWal Trifecta Play.............................$ 27
The Baseline P6 Ticket................................$ 32
The PPA.....................................................$ 36
Total amount to play them all........................$ 332
Looks like a winner to me!
