The Breeder's Cup in the fall is perhaps the greatest single day of racing; however, The Kentucky Derby is, without a doubt, the greatest wagering day of the year. Huge pools, and better still, distorted pools as much of the money wagered is from non-horseplayers. For many, it's the one time of the year thousands of people make a fairly significant wager on a horse race.
Where else in the world will you see a trifecta which pays over $100,000 and a superfecta which pays over $1,000,000 like we witnessed in the 2005 Kentucky Derby? We felt pretty good that year, when our $120 play paid over $10,000 for our $1 Pick Three which finished with the Derby.
Point is.......so many uneducated dollars trying to hit the "life changer" that the exotics pay well , even if the favorites win! This is a great day for the experienced horse player!
