Preakness Stakes 2007

Triple Crown contender

The Preakness, because it's 110 yards shorter than the Derby, generally brings more actual contenders who can win the race. In the Derby, I figured 9 of the 20 had a chance(less than 50% of the entries). In the Preakness, about 75% of the entries have a chance to win, bringing a good wagering situation.

We've had a chance to see most of them run against one another, but not at this distance and they will not be running with the huge field of 20, like we saw in the Derby. Add to this, the hype of the decisive Kentucky Derby win by Street Sense, who made a great run and instantly became the only Triple Crown contender with that 110 Beyer's run. There are very few over the years, who've run a number that big and came back with another real big one in only 2 weeks.

Finally, the most predictable thing about the Preakness is that win, lose,or draw, Street Sense will be over bet, in all the pools. Bottom line is the Preakness will likely be the best wagering race of the 3 Triple Crown events this year and will produce the highest pay outs for the exotic wagers(Trifecta,Superfecta,Pick 3). Our main job between now and Saturday is to figure the horses most likely to pull the upset and/or run in the money. One thing for sure, as Street Sense takes on money, it will drive the odds higher (more favorably from a wagering perspective) on the other horses, than is reasonable and will set up some fantastic opportunities for the Big Score.

Can Street Sense do it again?

We sure had a great Kentucky Derby this year (check out our winning Trifecta pick), and we're eagerly waiting to see how Street Sense performs. Can she bounce back two weeks after the Derby and give us a potential Triple Crown winner? It'd be the first in almost 30 years, and we can't wait to find out. After seeing his finish in the Derby, we gotta believe there is at least a chance.

Like last year, we will be selling our Preakness Stakes package. Be sure to buy your package early this year as we are limiting the number of packages so as not to skew the odds. This will include our Top Picks & Longshots for all the races at Pimlico on Preakness day as well as our winning plays and analysis for the actual Preakness. You'll need to be ready to wager $200-$300 to take full advantage of all of our plays. In addition you will also receive our Pick 6 Play for the day, as well as our BalWal Play of the Day

If you are going to play the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, we recommend buying our Preakness/Belmont package which includes everything the Preakness Package has, but it is also for the Belmont Stakes, and it will save you $25 by buying in advance.

Preakness Stakes 2007 Package - $75
Preakness Stakes/Belmont Stakes 2007 Package - $125

If you need any inspiration before buying, read about our big Triple Crown scores in 2005 when we had a $10,667 Pick 3 winner for the Kentucky Derby and $10,778 winner for the Preakness Stakes. And in this year's Derby, we had the Trifecta for a $220 score for all of our Derby package customers. You may want to visit our Kentucky Derby 2007 page to read our re-cap of the big race.
